Hello all, I too used to go to Clarence's and the Good Mood in the 1970's. My brother Colin and myself were in The Good Mood on the night that it closed (9th March 1979, we drank the place dry.I remember Cosmic Karen, Dave (Diddy) Knight, Slimey Bob & Dave (Trigger) Rodgers. I used to drink in the Adega Bar before I went to Clarry's, the door had one of those small hatches like you see in gangster films and we had to sign in the book before we could enter. Clarences was on two floors, the lower floor had a regular disco playing 7" singles. The upper floor was done out in tartan, they sold Younger's and McEwan's beers, the upper floor was for serious music fans, the dj would play you the whole side of an album. In the late 1970's Punk and then Two-Tone music had arrived and Clarence,s became the Good Mood. The clubs closure was due to the floor becoming weak due to the Punks pogoing on it, the owner, Paul Mountain decided that having the floor strengthened would be too expensive, so he decided to close the club. I saw some great bands in the seven years that I frequented the club, Paul Mountain brought some big names there like Genesis, Roxy Music and Status Quo. I was saddened to hear of Mr Mountain's recent death, he certainly put Halifax on the UK'S music map. Thanks for everything Paul, you'll be sadly missed, R.I.P.
