"Wanted to provide you with more information about people who worked there and a few bands missing off the list. There are two DJs to add, myself ( I took over from Peter mid 78-mid 79 ) AND MY FRIEND PAUL COSTELLO WHO WOULD FILL IN FOR ME IF I WAS AWAY WATCHING ANOTHER GIG OR WANTED TO SEE THE BAND IN THE MOOD.
Other bands I can recall vividly playing there are Fischer-Z in early 1979, The Selecter 1979, The Beat , also 1979 and The Coventry Specials also 79. From 78 there was also Wire, Cabaret Voltaire The Killermeters from Huddersfield 1978 and 1979).
On a sad note we could have had the Police for 300 quid prior to them hitting the big time. Peter, who was DJ then had picked up hearing them whilst working in Saudi Arabia. He started playing Roxanne, Cant Stand Losing you , So Lonely etc. I then took over as DJ and used to play tracks from Outlandos D 'Amour. Paul Mountain wasa reluctant to pay the extra 50 quid even though I begged him as they would fill the club who were all Police fans already, thanks to Pete.
Alas, the one that got way.
My favourite gig of them all was Fischer-Z. I have followed Z and John Watts solo stuff to this present day.
Next best was Joy Division. I promise you there was more than one person that night. There were at least 10-20 people but no more than that. They were brilliant.
Anyway, feel free to contact me at jbaillie@sbcglobal.net should you need anymore info.
Paul was certainly a mountain of a man. He did great work and the town could use another person like him.
I did notice that The Mood was for lease again when I was home last March. I hope Paul gets to know this.

Cheers,

Joe Baillie"

What a wonderful site. Brought back loads of memories. Saw the pics on Tim's facebook too. My other half worked in the Upper George so we sometimes had free passes!
